Samba Workshop

Samba workshop explores various styles of this Brazilian rhythm. Workshop warm-up of consists of isolations in cadence with rhythms of the candomblé, followed by an introduction to samba de roda, the root of all samba. Students will get their hearts racing with samba-reggae before breaking down the structure and technique of samba-no-pe. Class culminates in Rio-style show choreography with variations for beginning through advanced students.

Beginners will focus on finding the downbeat, while advanced dancers will learn shine sequences. This is a great class for aerialists looking to add some Latin flavor to their floor choreography as well as friends of World Dance.

Prerequisites: positive attitude. Dance heels for choreography optional.
